About Purkess Exhibition Plinths

The Concept

While the UK sees an increasing number of exhibitions and fairs each year, there are surprisingly few display units available for the small creative business. With professional systems well beyond their reach (and not necessarily to their taste), budding designers often find themselves spending precious time building their own displays or adapting ill-suited flat-packed furniture. The founders of Purkess Exhibition Plinths decided it was time somebody came to the rescue!

The Environment

We stolidly refuse to use formaldehyde-impregnated products such as MDF and chipboard, so have gone to great lengths to source a high-quality, ZF (zero formaldehyde) MDF. We also recycle whenever we can, plaining down and re-using pre-loved wood for battens and frames. And of course, our glues and varnishes are water-based for minimal environmental impact.

Tim Purkess

Craftsman Tim Purkess has spent the best part of the last thirty years honing and adding to the skills he learnt in the construction industry upon leaving school. Expanding his canon of skills with extensive work in related trades such as boat fitting, building renovation, and furniture restoration, Purkess now combines his varied talents to create the beautifully hand crafted plinths you see here.
